Before You Begin

Gauge

5 sc x 5 rows = 1 inch (2.5 cm). Adjust hook size if needed to achieve the correct gauge.

Size & Fit

This pattern uses a starting chain of 40, fitting approximately a child's large / teen / adult small hand (~8 inch / 20 cm circumference). To resize, adjust the starting chain in multiples of 2 and modify round counts accordingly.

Good to Know

  • The pattern is written for one size, make 2 identical gloves.
  • Colour changes happen between rounds, not mid-round.
  • Use stitch markers to mark the first stitch of each round.
  • Carry unused yarn up the inside when switching colours.

Glove Body

Make 2, both gloves use the same base instructions. Appliques are added after the base is complete.

Tip: The chain-8 bridge creates the thumb opening. When you work into those chains on Rnd 18, the hole closes up neatly.

Finger Openings

For each finger opening, ch 1, sc in a segment of approximately 10 stitches for each finger (4 openings across 40 stitches). Join with sl st to the first sc of that segment, then FO, leaving a tail for weaving in.

Alternatively, work one round of sc around the entire hand opening to clean up the edges, then FO.

These small pieces are sewn onto the back of the right glove after the base is complete. They are decorative and not affected by the glove circumference.

Pattern note: This pattern has been adapted from the original Speedy Sonic Crochet Gloves with a modified starting chain of 40 (originally 30) for a larger fit. All stitch counts, thumbhole construction, and finger openings have been adjusted proportionally. The decorative applique pieces remain at their original sizes.
